This year, Touchstone Mental Health is proud to celebrate a major milestone with Johnnie Mayfield the Program Supervisor at Two Rivers, who marks an incredible 20 years of dedicated service to the organization. Over the past two decades, Johnnie has been an integral part of the Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) team, providing unwavering support and care to individuals in need and consistently contributing to the growth and success of the organization. Whether it is his incredibly dapper wardrobe, his willingness to help his team or the pride he takes in his work, Johnnie is a fan favorite among staff and clients alike.
From day one, Johnnie’s passion for mental health and well-being has been evident in every interaction, whether working directly with clients, supporting colleagues, or offering innovative solutions to challenges. His commitment to Touchstone’s mission has made a lasting impact on both the individuals served and the staff who have had the privilege of working alongside him. Linda Olsen, Director of Two Rivers says, “It is rare and very special to find someone with the kind of long-standing dedication that Johnnie has who can stay in touch with their “why” for doing this work. He has been and remains a vital part of the Two Rivers team as both a rock and an inspiration”
Johnnie’s role has evolved over the years, but his core values of empathy, compassion, and professionalism have remained steadfast. Whether through advocacy, leadership, or direct service, he continues to inspire those around him. His long tenure is a testament to his dedication and the positive influence he has had in shaping the community at Touchstone. When asked to reflect on Johnnie’s contributions to their team, Tara Fard said, “His dedication, professionalism, and charisma have left a lasting impact on our organization and those fortunate enough to work alongside him. Johnnie’s ability to offer support and guidance has been invaluable to my growth and understanding of how to navigate challenges with perseverance. The glimpses he shares of his background hold immense meaning and only deepen my respect for him. Johnnie’s attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering commitment to excellence have truly set him apart as a mentor and leader. It is hard to imagine this organization without him, and I know I speak for many when I say his presence continues to inspire and uplift us all. I am looking forward to working alongside him and learning from him for many more years to come.”
All of his colleagues and clients rave about him as a coworker and friend. Sharon Halvorson, the nurse at Two Rivers shared, “I have had the pleasure of working with Johnnie for close to 5 years now. I have learned that he is a kind, compassionate person. A good teacher and educator. When staff need physical or emotional support, Johnnie is always there for us. Always positive and brings with him energy. It has been great working alongside a person that is dedicated to teamwork and making Two Rivers a better place for our individuals that we serve.”
Please join us in congratulating Johnnie on this significant milestone. Here’s to 20 years of exceptional work and to many more years of making a difference!
“I’ve worked for Touchstone for over 20 years and in those years it has changed my thinking, feelings and how I view life. I’ve found that money can’t buy the feeling you get when you see successful clients walk out the doors different than when they walked in. I know this doesn’t ring true for every client but we are always giving it our best. I get first shot in the morning at getting a smile or a laugh and it is the best feeling in the world. I’ve stayed with Touchstone because they are at the forefront every year fighting the good fight for our clients. Employees voice means something here, I know what it’s like to be on the other side and what it means to have a friend in the work.”
