Spotlight on Rising Cedar: A Decade of Transformative Supportive Housing
Touchstone Mental Health and Project for Pride in Living (PPL) recently hosted Governor Walz’s Chief of Staff Chris Schmitter, Minnesota Housing Commissioner Jennifer Ho, and other key leaders at Rising Cedar. This innovative supportive housing partnership exemplifies stability, dignity, and hope for individuals experiencing mental illness and homelessness.
A special thanks to new PPL CEO Karla Henderson, Rashida Jones, Scott Cordes, Nicholas L. Jenkins, and Kelly Miller for their leadership. At Touchstone, Chris Westergaard, MSW, LICSW, CPPM, and Katie Muehlen (Shaughnessy), LICSW, have been instrumental in guiding Rising Cedar’s person-centered housing approach. Impressively, 25% of tenants have called Rising Cedar home for 10 years, a testament to its success since opening in 2013.
We are grateful to all who visited and recognized supportive housing as a vital tool to address housing insecurity. Together, we continue building a future where everyone has a place to call home.
